STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS, INC. ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF THE HGC SERIES CHIP RESISTORS
RALEIGH, NC (November 12, 2008) – Stackpole Electronics, Inc. today announced the release of the RNS
series, an ultra-miniature thru-hole axial leaded film resistor. This extension of the popular RN series
utilizes a proprietary metal film resistive element that has the capability of handling ½ watt, 1 watt, and 2
watt power ratings in packages that are two sizes smaller than the standard axial leaded case size. This
advancement allows design engineers to downsize current designs to create smaller products or products
with added features.
The new RNS series is capable of resistance values from 1 ohm up to 1 Meg, of tolerances down to 0.5%
and TCR’s as low as 25 ppm. The RNS standard coating is flame proof and it is 100% RoHS compliant.
The RNS series is available in standard tape and reel packaging in 5000 pcs increments for the RNS ½
and 1, and 2500 pcs for the RNS 2. Pricing varies with size, tolerance, TCR, and resistance value, but
ranges typically from $28 per thousand for the RNS 1/2, to $38 per thousand for the RNS 1, to $51 per
thousand for the RNS 2 in minimum quantities.
